Back in the water again

Well, not much has changed in the life of this sea dawg in the past week, but there has been a flurry of activity for the humans and I have a new boat on which I keep watch.

Man and me. Notice how he can relax because I'm on watch.

Lady and Man have been spending endless time in the back of the boatyard, but this is fine with me because I find plenty of interesting things to eat back there, plus there’s always a spreader boot (delicious fun rubber thing) or random piece of wood for me to commandeer and throw up in the air for a while. I especially enjoy gloves. There have also been two other dawgs in the boatyard this past week, and we run up and down and up and down chasing each other while the humans spend a lot of time in one place. Lady claims that sometimes you have to put in a lot of dirty work to get to the fun part where you go swimming in warm water. I sure hope this is true, but in the meantime I can roll around in the dirt here and take myself for swims in the marina.

One of my favorite spots in the back of the yard. Lady did lots of polishing in here.

My buddy Parmesan. We get super filthy running around in the yard together.

At the end of the week last week, Lady showed up in a foul mood at the boatyard and pretty much everyone stayed out of her way. I guess she was tired of hanging out under the boat on dry land instead of in the water. Well, after getting real grumpy about it Lady and Man spent the whole weekend sticking things to the really long, shiny pole in the back of the yard, I guess it’s called a mast. Man is very patient with this, I don’t know how he can stand it. Then, after a weekend of laying around in the yard for me, Lady went and got doughnuts on Monday and plopped them down in the office and everyone was happier, especially me because I got to eat the crumbs.

Well, they must have been magical doughnuts or something because all of a sudden, the shiny pole had all sorts of wires attached and it went up, up into my shady spot, which I guess was the boat all this time but I didn’t know that, I just kept watch underneath.

Stepping the mast.

Stepping the mast.

At the very end of the day they rolled the whole thing out to the water and, under my supervision, they lowered it in. I have to say, the boat looks a lot better floating in the water, plus now I have a new job of keeping watching on the deck. People walk by and talk to me but unless they are a boatyard friend, I just look at them so they know they can’t get on the boat of Lady and Man without MY permission.

Rolling back toward the water...

That's me, supervising the splash.

I do miss my shady spot in the yard, but Lady sure is a lot happier on the water. It seems like doughnuts work better than stomping around if humans want to be happy and floating.

That’s all the sea dawg’s observations for this week, signing off for now.

All that running around in the boatyard is exhausting, can someone else take the helm for a bit?
