Uh, hey guys? It’s HOT.

Sea dawg reporting to you from what appears to be our new home in La Paz, Mexico. And I would like to start by saying that it’s HOT here in Mexico. The nice winter coat I was working on in Berkeley? NOT useful here.

That's right, I'm lookin' at you. More swimming, please.

That’s right, I’m lookin’ at you. More swimming, please.

We spent five whole days in the truck to get here, but at least we got to swim out in a warm ocean. Here in Mexico, Lady and Man swim WITH me, it’s not just me out there solo anymore. It’s pretty nice because they let me swim ahead of them, and once I get tired Lady makes me get on the board and paddles me around. I pretend that I don’t want to get on the board, but I usually fall asleep once I do.

Lady made me get on the board here, so I dangle my feet and tail over the side. I like the feel of the water between my toes.

So we drive for days. Then we showed up at this house and there is this OTHER dog here. Lady and Man call him Kekito, and he’s pretty fun and all, we play a lot, but he’s barely got any fur and really doesn’t understand how hot it is in this black coat, so he’s always pestering me to play more. He likes to be in touching distance at all times. Also, his food is DELICIOUS. He also thinks MY food is delicious, but Lady and Man won’t let us switch. We boycotted eating, but then they were on to us and figured out if they put a little of the other dog’s food in the bowl, we couldn’t resist and would eat our own food.

Kekito.

Kekito.

We are often found in positions like this throughout the house.

We are always ready for action.

That’s us, always ready for action.

Kekito, or The Cupcake, gets to go with us every day to swim at this place Man calls Balandra.  The Cupcake is a pretty good swimmer, but I’ve been giving him a few tips on a more efficient dog paddle. He’s getting faster now, and the humans aren’t worried about him so he gets to swim the whole way with me instead of getting a ride on one of the boards. By the time we are done swimming and running and shoulder-checking each other down the beach (okay, maybe it’s just me doing the shoulder-checking), we’re pretty tired and lie around for the rest of the day.

This is part after we swim for an hour. Once again, I pretend I don't like it, but The Cupcake sees no issue with it.

Because it’s HOT.

Lady says it’s going to cool down, but in the meantime I lie around to imply that it’s always time to go to the beach. Man built some screen doors for the the house we’re staying in, since there’s no air conditioning except in the bedrooms, so it’s a little cooler now, but I still vote that we move to the beach.

See? This is where I belong.

See? This is where I belong.

We’ve seen a few other dogs around town, but these dogs act different than my buddies in the US, since no one seems to want to play with me. They seem to act like I do when I’m hot, but they have short fur, so maybe they just need more food. Lady says Kekito used to live on the street like that until his Lady brought him home. Now that Kekito has his own lady and food, he wants to play ALL the time.

So I’m getting used to life here. It’s pretty adventurous hanging out with Lady and Man, and I kinda like my new buddy The Cupcake. I’ll keep you all updated on our swimming destinations.

Now you’lI have excuse me, I have to go lie around more and let the humans know it’s time to go swimming.

One Response to Uh, hey guys? It’s HOT.
